DHA’s New Social Media Advertising Standards

On 17 August 2026, the Dubai Health Authority announced its Standards for Medical Advertisement Content on Social Media (circular CIR-2026-00000144). They apply to DHA-licensed health facilities and healthcare professionals advertising on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat, WhatsApp and LinkedIn. As reported by Gulf News, they include:

  • Absolute or exaggerated words such as “the best”, “100%”, “no side effects”, “miraculous” and “immediate results” are not allowed.
  • Posts that name or refer to a facility need the medical director’s approval, and posts are archived for possible audits.
  • Written consent is required before using a patient’s picture, video or statement, with parental consent for under-18s.
  • Ads must not create unrealistic expectations, use fear, or claim superiority over other practitioners.
  • Filming or live-streaming patients during surgery or under general anaesthesia for promotion is banned.

This is a summary, not legal advice; always check the full standard and your facility’s medical director.

Say It Clearly, Say It Accurately

The DHA standards allow clear facts: services, qualifications, opening hours, accreditations and evidence-based health information. We build content around what patients need to know, and leave out what the rules prohibit.

No

An honest note

We are a marketing agency, not a regulator or legal adviser. We plan content around the DHA standards and flag risks, but your facility’s medical director remains responsible for approving posts.
